A number of experts have concluded that Latvia has a large potential in becoming a wind energy power-player in the future, securing this renewable energy resource both for domestic use and export. However, for that to materialize, a wider understanding of wind energy as such among related industries, society in the regions, entrepreneurs and legislators is necessary alongside the right legal and business framework.
An important part of our work is education. We are open to participation in industry and related workshops, conferences, lectures on climate change prevention, decrease in green-house gases, use of renewable energy resources, wind energy opportunities in Latvia. Resource prices in global markets are rising, and we believe that for Latvia it is wiser and more efficient to use its local resources. The result will be retention of income, development of regions and increase in national energy independence.
Wind energy is on of the renewable energy solutions, that can be accessed and used effectively in Latvia, thanks to the climate alongside the Baltic Sea. Off-shore wind energy yield is on the rise in other European countries, it continues to attract investment, including pension funds, and large multi-national corporations. The capacity of wind energy in Europe has seen a rapid increase over the past few years. It is harvested in the Baltic Sea, in the North Sea and along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. European wind energy "superpowers" are Denmark an Great Britain, having set up 80 % of all wind parks. Calculations lead to conclude that wind energy provides electricity to over 4 million households across Europe. However, it is not possible to create effective wind farms everywhere and yield energy. Current data and research shows that it is an effective investment in the Latvian case.
